The aim of my paper is empirical verification of economic voting theory in case of Poland after 1995. Two kinds of theoretical approaches are analysed and compared in this paper. One are classic hypotheses of economic voting theory. The other one is version of economic voting theory adjusted to post-communist countries developed by Tucker (2006). I try to compare explanation power of different economic voting approaches in explaining voting behaviour of Polish voters in set of elections held after 1995. Tucker’s modified version of economic voting was confirmed for the period of the first years after collapse of communism. My analyses are related to later period of time. According to my hypothesis, voting behaviour of Polish citizens could be explained by version of economic voting approach adjusted for post-communist countries up to particular point of time, but after that voting behaviour is better explained by classic version of economic voting theory. In my analyses, effects related to economic voting are tested after controlling for effects related to other well-known theoretical approaches explaining voting behaviour.
