Saturday, April 16, 2016: 11:00 AM-12:45 PM
Aria B (DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia Center City)
This panel will discuss research on European migration across national contexts by focusing on issues of methodology. Papers discuss conceptualizing and conducting ethnographic research among mobile European citizens and critiques of methodological nationalism; the use of the structure and agency duality to better examine immigration policies; the difficulties of ethnographic research of race and difference in France from an outsider perspective; and the contributions of local – community or city – level focus on historical studies of European migration.
