Ormandy East (DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia Center City)
The ongoing EU-US on a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) are a controversial component of the growth strategies pursued on either side of the Atlantic. By focusing on the wider process of negotiations this panel's  underlying edited volume represents the first published peer-reviewed analysis of the TTIP. The edited volume's authors include outstanding scholars  from across several disciplines. While presenting a thorough examination of the process of TTIP negotiations, this book presentation panel will broached the four key themes the contributors jointly explored: (1) TTIP's Theoretical and Historical Context; (2) the Negotiations, Actors and Agencies mobilised; (3) the possible Knock-On Effects and Unintended Consequences for Third Parties; (4) and the Impact on Multilateral Institutions and Regime Complexes. Panel discussions will underline the complex and unique relationship between the United States and the European Union and argue that TTIP promises to have vast implications in terms of global governance. Discussions of the volume's findings will both crystalize its original contributions and identify remaining gaps in the knowldge which require further research. To this effect, the volume's senior editor Merio Telò will highlight the historical and theoretical aspects of TTIP and stress the the volume's insights regarding the role of individual actors. Subsequently, Vinod Aggarwal, as lead scientist of an associated research endeavor on TTIP in a comparative perspective, will broach TTIP’s possible knock-on effects on either third parties or other regimes complexes. Subsequently, both Le Roux and Kleimann will crittically discuss the volume's findings in light of their legal experyise and technical knowldge of the specific regulatory content and negotiation framework of the TTIP
