Immigration and the Labour/Welfare Nexus in Norway

The paper will discuss the challenges of immigration to the Norwegian  labour/welfare nexus. It will contrast the way in which these challenges are perceived in Norway, a country that has a recent history of labour shortages, to developments in the other Scandinavian countries. It will also consider the role of EU membership in this comparison, and the way in which the EU enlargement of 2004 has influenced policy debates in Norway as well as in the Scandinavian EU member states.
