This panel will address the challenges of high unemployment in (Western) Europe. We will look at different aspects such as a) political cleavages behind the problem, e.g. the major fundamental or domain-specific divisions in this field, b) (de)regulation of unemployment, c) solutions, d) political behavior of the challenged groups, or e) political communication in the field of labour market policies. We encourage a comparative perspective with participants from different fields. The panel is jointly chaired/discussed by Regula Hänggli (University of Amsterdam), Laurent Bernhard (University of Zurich), and Flavia Fossati (University of Zurich).
