026 Cross-Disciplinary Approaches to Radicalism and Violence

Studying Violence and Radicalism across the Disciplines
Wednesday, July 8, 2015: 11:00 AM-12:45 PM

Research on radicalism and violence—like most scholarship more generally—often remains mired in disciplinary silos.  Many journals are disciplinary in nature, and most hiring in academia (and hence, training of doctoral students) continues to fall within traditional disciplinary departments. In this panel, scholars from different disciplinary backgrounds present empirical research findings and—during focused discussion with the panel moderator—discuss what we can learn from cross-disciplinary conversations and whether there might be ways to foster further cross-disciplinary collaboration moving forward.
