Through this first session, we will examine what shapes legal mobilization takes within different national and supranational settings. Some contributions deal with the constraints and resources for the mobilization of the law in civil law countries, such as France and Belgium, and show how legal and political mobilizations are interlinked in these specific contexts. Others examine the diffusion of rights talk among European countries and the variety of legal mobilization and access to the European level. All these contributions call into question the processes of transnationalisation and transfer from the US to Europe. They question the helfulness of importing US models in analyzing legal mobilization in Europe.
