Our aim is to bring together researchers and policy makers who have a deep understanding of the political as well as epidemiologic obstacles and opportunities. As a policy domain, health equity has emerging as a central concern of European policymakers, especially in the UK, and Scottish policymakers and scholars have been very active in this area. We consider successes, failures, possibilities, and intellectual inferences from these endeavours.
