Higher education institutions are—by definition—socially engaged entities, tasked with shaping the minds and future careers of its students. Nevertheless, classic models of pedagogy, particularly in the Humanities, prevail where the curriculum cannot keep up with the growing needs of educating the next generation of public humanists. This panel highlights that students, however, are not stuck in a one-way street but that a liberal arts education opens doors to many professions outside of traditional academia that are still academic in nature.
