085 Author Meets Critics- Migration and the search for home: Mapping domestic space in migrants' everyday lives (by Paolo Boccagni, New York, Palgrave, 2017)

Thursday, March 29, 2018: 11:00 AM-12:45 PM
Avenue East Ballroom (InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile)
Home, as a place and an experience of it, is an inevitable point of reference for the debate on cross-border mobilities and migrant patterns of incorporation. Migration and the search for home provides a systematic understanding of the ways in which home is conceived, felt and emplaced, over space and time, as a result of international migration. Whether as a domestic question or a public - indeed, political - one, the "search for home" of migrants and natives offers a novel research perspective on mobilities, values and citizenship. This author-meets-critics session interrogates its significance, thanks to the contribution of four scholars in migration and ethnic studies, in a critical dialogue with the author of the book.
