032 Brexit, Regulation and Justice

Wednesday, March 28, 2018: 2:00 PM-3:45 PM
Holabird (InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile)
The panel explores the relationship between law, regulation and justice as to Brexit, at national and international level. Whose justice is affected by Brexit? How is a ‘just’ Brexit to be evaluated? Whilst Brexit has often been argued to be ‘just’ as a result of a democratic referendum vote, the panel explores the vulnerabilities actually and potentially created by its imminence, for those exercising free movement rights, EU citizens, workers, and others living and residing within the EU. The panel also evaluates the potential for significant shifts in regulatory orders and structures. What objective analytical tools are appropriate to evaluate this? What are the consequences for global governance of nationalism at regulatory level? It considers the regulatory parameters set by Brexit, at national, supranational and International level. It reflects upon the role of national and international authorities, as well as civil society.
